1 pallino (or jack): Small white target ball

8 bocce balls: 4 of one color and 4 of another, for two teams (or individuals)
Setup

Played on a court or flat surface (grass, sand, gravel, or official bocce courts)

Teams: 2 players (1v1) or 4 players (2 per team, each player throws 2 balls)

Toss a coin to decide who throws the pallino first.
Objective
Get your team’s bocce balls closer to the pallino than the other team.
Gameplay

The starting team throws the pallino into the playing area (must land at least halfway down the court).

That same team throws the first bocce ball, aiming to get it close to the pallino.

Then the other team throws until one of their balls is closer than the opponent’s closest ball.
Scoring

Only one team scores per round (the one with the closest ball to the pallino).

That team scores 1 point for each ball closer to the pallino than the closest opponent’s ball.

Use a measuring tape if it’s close.
Winning
-
Play continues round by round.

First team to 13 points wins (some play to 12, 15, or 21 depending on house rules).
Other Notes
-
Hitting: You can knock the pallino or opponent's balls — totally legal and strategic.

If the pallino is knocked out of bounds, the round ends and no one scores.
